This policy explains what personal information Inspire Institute of Health Sciences & Research collects, why we collect it, how we use it and what rights you have. It applies to applicants, learners, faculty, alumni and visitors to this website.
Information we collect
- Enquiry and application data: name, contact details, country of residence, qualifications, professional registration, employment history and personal statement.
- Learner records: attendance, assessment submissions, marks, feedback, logbook sign-offs and support interactions.
- Financial data: invoices, payment status and instalment schedules. Card details are handled by our payment provider and are not stored by us.
- Technical data: IP address, browser type and pages visited, collected in aggregate to keep the site secure and usable.
Why we use it
- To assess your application and administer your programme (performance of a contract).
- To meet legal, regulatory and quality-assurance obligations (legal obligation).
- To improve our programmes and services, and to keep records for accreditation (legitimate interests).
- To send you marketing about programmes and events, where you have asked us to (consent).
Who we share it with
We share personal data only where necessary: with placement hosts and clinical supervisors involved in your programme; with external examiners and moderators; with awarding or accrediting bodies; with our technology and payment providers under written contract; and with regulators or law enforcement where we are legally required to do so. We do not sell personal data.
How long we keep it
Enquiry data that does not lead to an application is deleted after 24 months. Unsuccessful applications are kept for 12 months. Learner academic records are retained permanently in summary form so that we can verify qualifications for employers and regulators; supporting material is retained for six years after completion.
Your rights
You have the right to access your data, to have inaccurate data corrected, to request erasure where it applies, to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, contact our Data Protection Officer.

Write to the Data Protection Officer via our contact page. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office in the United Kingdom, or to your local supervisory authority.

These terms govern your use of this website and your contract with the Institute if you enrol on a programme. By applying, enrolling or using this site you accept them.
Your contract with us
A contract is formed when you accept an offer of a place and we confirm your enrolment. The contract comprises your offer letter, the programme handbook, these terms and any policy referenced within them. Where documents conflict, the offer letter takes precedence.
What we commit to
- To deliver the programme described in your offer letter with reasonable skill and care.
- To provide teaching, assessment and academic support as published in the programme handbook.
- To assess your work fairly, against published criteria, with external moderation where applicable.
- To tell you promptly if a programme is changed, postponed or withdrawn, and to offer a suitable alternative or a refund.
What we ask of you
- Provide accurate information in your application; misrepresentation may lead to withdrawal of an offer or termination of enrolment.
- Pay fees by the dates agreed. Access to teaching, assessment and results may be suspended where fees are overdue.
- Meet attendance and participation requirements, particularly for clinical and simulation components.
- Behave professionally and lawfully towards staff, learners, patients and placement hosts.
- Submit your own work. Plagiarism, collusion, contract cheating and falsification of logbooks are academic misconduct.
Scope of what a qualification means
Our awards certify successful completion of an Institute programme. They do not, by themselves, confer any licence, registration or right to practise. Registration decisions are made solely by the relevant professional regulator, and we make no guarantee about examination outcomes, registration or employment.
Academic appeals and complaints
You may appeal an academic decision on grounds of procedural irregularity, bias, or material circumstances not previously considered — but not on the grounds of academic judgement alone. Appeals must be submitted within 20 working days of the decision. Complaints follow a three-stage process: informal resolution, formal written complaint, and review by a panel independent of the original decision.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Otherwise, our liability is limited to the fees you have paid for the programme concerned, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss including loss of earnings or opportunity.
Intellectual property
All course materials remain the property of the Institute or its licensors and are provided for your personal study only. They may not be copied, shared, resold or uploaded to third-party platforms. You retain ownership of your own assessed work; you grant us a licence to retain and reproduce it for assessment, moderation, quality assurance and academic-integrity purposes.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
Refund Policy

This policy sets out when fees are refundable. It applies alongside your statutory cancellation rights where you are a consumer contracting at a distance.
Statutory cooling-off period
Where you enrol at a distance as a consumer, you have 14 calendar days from the date of enrolment to cancel and receive a full refund. If you ask us to begin teaching within that period and then cancel, we may deduct a proportionate amount for the teaching already delivered.

We process personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018, and with the EU GDPR where it applies to learners in the European Economic Area.

Lawful bases
We rely on performance of a contract for programme delivery; legal obligation for regulatory and financial record-keeping; legitimate interests for service improvement and security; and consent for marketing communications and non-essential cookies. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting processing already carried out.
Special category data
Where we process health data — for example to make reasonable adjustments, or to record occupational health clearance for a clinical placement — we do so on the basis of your explicit consent or of substantial public interest, and we restrict access to staff who need it.
International transfers
Some of our providers process data outside the United Kingdom. Where they do, transfers are protected by adequacy regulations or by standard contractual clauses with additional safeguards, and a copy of the mechanism used is available on request.
Security
We apply access controls, encryption in transit, role-based permissions, logging and staff training, and we maintain a documented procedure for detecting, reporting and investigating personal data breaches. Reportable breaches are notified to the supervisory authority within 72 hours.
Automated decision-making
We do not make decisions about admission, assessment or progression by automated means alone. Every application and every assessment outcome is reviewed by a member of academic staff.

Known limitations
Some downloadable documents produced before this site was rebuilt may not be fully tagged for screen readers. We will provide an accessible version of any document on request.
Adjustments for learners
If you need an adjustment for teaching or assessment — extra time, alternative formats, assistive technology, a modified assessment setting or anything else — tell us at application or at any point during your programme. Adjustments are agreed with Student Services and applied without affecting academic standards.
